GET TO KNOW ME

I'm a compassionate and non-judgmental psychologist who has had a fulfilling career as both a counsellor and a researcher. I am deeply committed to building a trusting relationship with you that will promote your well-being.

I graduated from the Master of Counselling program at the University of Lethbridge, where I also worked in research for over three years. I then completed a counselling residency at Calgary Counselling Centre where I did substantial therapeutic work with individuals, couples, and families experiencing grief/loss, marital conflict, difficult life transitions, trauma, domestic violence, depression, and anxiety. My residency at Calgary Counselling Centre is particularly unique, as it involved rigorous and extensive ongoing observation, supervision, and feedback from the agency's most experienced clinicians.

In addition to individual counselling, I facilitate counselling groups in the community for those struggling with grief/bereavement, intimate partner violence, and trauma. I am especially proud to have developed and pioneered a group counselling program for men with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

My therapeutic approach is largely based on the principles of Existential Therapy, and Person-Centered therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). These approaches highlight the individual’s capacity to make meaning out of suffering, and bring light to the individual’s unique values, strengths, and choices. Moreover, I draw from complementary philosophical approaches including Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy  (DBT). My approach to couples therapy draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Couples, Gottman Couples Therapy, and Emotionally-Focused Family Therapy. These approaches focus on the couple's values, relationship needs, communication patterns, and healing emotional wounds. Lastly, I am trained and experienced in trauma-focused therapies, including Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

In my spare time, I enjoy jogging, hiking, playing nerdy board games, singing loudly in my car, and eating spicy food.
